# Repository rules

- Go 1.27; builds use CGO_ENABLED=0. Race tests alone use CGO_ENABLED=1.
- Dependencies: standard library and golang.org/x/sys only.
- Steady-state request/reply/event/error hot paths must allocate zero times;
  enforce with testing.AllocsPerRun tests and benchmarks. Setup and amortized
  buffer growth may allocate. Caller-owned buffers and borrowed views are preferred.
- Root never imports generated packages. Generated packages import root and,
  for extensions, xproto. Wire format is little-endian.
- Requests return Seq (0 invalid); sticky Buf errors stop encoding. Reply views
  live only through the callback. Event Raw is copied; Tail is borrowed.
- Generate bindings from the pinned manifest; do not hand-edit generated code.
- Run make check before committing. Use signed conventional commits:
  type(scope): description. Feature work belongs in .worktrees/; do not merge
  without review. Forge is ermite only; never add or push a GitHub remote.
- The binding spec is private; the above summarizes its key public contracts.
  Stop and ask before making an unspecified public-contract decision.
