purego-libwayland

Go bindings for libwayland-server without cgo, loaded at runtime through github.com/bnema/purego.

Status

Early v0.x. A server-side libwayland runtime (server/ package).

Requirements

Linux, Go 1.27, and libwayland-server.so.0 at runtime.

Build

CGO_ENABLED=0 go build ./...

Protocol bindings

Generated protocol bindings live in github.com/bnema/go-wayland-bindings, one package per protocol under server/<pkg>, for example server/xdgshell and server/wlrlayershell. They build on this runtime's server package.

Display integration

Display.SetGlobalFilter(func(Client, *Global) bool) controls which clients see and bind each global; passing nil removes the filter. Set it before clients receive restricted globals. Global handles are stable, including during creation; filters must not create globals or block. Filter by g.Interface() (for example, g.Interface() != "xwayland_shell_v1" || c == xwaylandClient), not a captured handle assigned by AddGlobal: creation can invoke the filter before that assignment. Interface() and Version() expose stored metadata without allocation, including during creation.

Display.AddFDRW(fd, onReadable, onWritable) registers a non-blocking fd with writable interest initially disabled. Source.SetWritable(true) arms writable callbacks after EAGAIN; SetWritable(false) disarms them when output drains. Both return errors on registration/update failures. Readable interest remains active. Callbacks run on the display goroutine with no dispatch allocations. AddFD remains the readable-only API. Hangup/error readiness calls onReadable; remove the source on EOF/error. The caller owns the original fd.

These APIs, like other libwayland operations, belong on the display's OS-locked goroutine (use Do or Post from other goroutines).

Keyboard shortcuts

Single-key shortcuts are on. ctrl k and esc work whatever this says.

ctrl k :
go to a section, branch, tag, file or repository
?
this list
j k
move the row cursor down / up
enter
open the row under the cursor; on Files, a directory opens or closes in place
↑ ↓ ← → home end
in the file tree (focus on a row): previous / next row, close / open a directory or go to its parent / first entry, first / last row. They never open a file
l h
on Files: open a directory or a file / close a directory or go up to its parent, then to the parent page. Elsewhere: into the side panel (on a merge request, its files) / back to the content; there j k move between its controls
g g G
first / last row
/
filter the list; on Files, find a file anywhere in the repository (esc clears, enter opens the best match)
b
switch branch or tag
g s g f g c g b g m g i g r g a
